Experts agree that pets specifically dogs are effective companions that can bring physical and emotional benefits especially to young kids. Studies show that dogs are quite effective companions especially in dealing with mood disorders and other behavior problems. Possessing calm, loyal and intelligent qualities, canine companions are said to be ideal for those people who go through mood swings and disorders because these animals can provide the peace and tranquility the person needs to soothe his or her nerves. If a parent is receiving complaints from the school, then a Functional Behavior Assessment should be provided by school personnel or guidance counsellor. This would determine what behavior is considered problematic and what measures could be taken. But it is not the parents who are in school, it is the teachers, staff and school management and administrators. Due to extreme changes and adjustments teenagers has to go through, some of them find it hard to cope up with sudden shifts in their lives. One of the major factors that trigger depression in teens is low tolerance to stress. Find a way to release your tension and anxiety, be it through exercise, arts, and engaging in other fun, safe activities and hobbies. Another way would be by having open communication with your support group, which may consist of family, friends, co-workers or classmates and teachers.
