Lighting; Proper lighting is most important for iguanas. These cold blooded creatures and can live for about 20 years. Most of the breeds of iguanas are found in Central and Sothern America, Mexico, Lesser Antilles Islands, Florida, Hawaii and California. Many varieties of the iguana belong to arboreal category. These iguanas mostly live on the top of tree, in deserts, rocky trails and marine iguanas live in coastal areas in caves. Sometimes they eat insects, animal food, land crabs and carrions. Small animals and insects are pet food for young Rhinoceros Iguanas. The bush or the plant that they select for their food is precious to them. They will guard it from the other species of iguanas. They spend their lot of time in eating or lying in the sun to get heat. Iguanas are Herbivores: Herbivores are the form of creatures that eat plant and vegetation. There are many reptiles, which cannot live exclusively on plants and they eat meat of insects or other animals. Iguanas are different in this respect. This is one of the major reasons for people to keep them as their pets. In cold days they almost become immobile and easily fall prey to the marauders. They can move only slowly and they strike the invaders with their tails and bite the predators. When their breeding season comes, the male will mate with females and guard them against other males. Marine iguanas maintain their number and sizes according to the availability of food. Sufficient Amount of Water: Iguanas should be given adequate water to drink. Usually, they eat plant and vegetables, which meets their requirement of water to some extent. They also lick the water from petals. If they do not take sufficient water they will get dehydrated. You should keep water in deep bowls for them.
