The desert iguana is not and endangered species. The Breeding Season During middle of the month of March, the desert iguanas begin to get out from the long period of hibernation. They have their breeding season during April and May. The female desert iguana lays eggs, which they hatch in July and August Throughout the entire breeding season, the adult desert iguanas will have pink stomach during the breeding season on the sides. They have long tails almost double the length of their bodies. Genus Sauromalus iguana is referred as Chuckwalla. This species is full-bodied herbaceous iguana normally living in Mexico and United States. This variety of iguana is totally vegetarian and lives on leaves, fruits, and flowers only. Chuckwalla mostly possesses a fat body and its skin loosely hangs over its body. The most common variety of them is giant green iguanas; this species is mostly found in Mexico and South America particularly in Brazil. The common verities of iguana are green iguana, blue iguana, marine iguana and lesser Antilillean iguana. These animals are categorized as herbivores-that mostly depend of the plants, leaves, vegetables, flowers and fruits. You need to ascertain that the temperature is maintained at 70 degree Fahrenheit in day and 85 degrees during night. If you can place their cage nearer to some source of heat, that may be a wonderful thing. Baby iguana will be interested to get comfort and rest by staying nearer to the source of heat radiations. You cannot tame your pet iguana so easily. You have to take their proper care and interact with them so that they feel comfortable and get acquainted with you and your family members. A tamed pet iguana will soon move freely in your house and will not eat anything by just getting excited. You can take them out for outdoor activities also. You can use a cupboard or a room so that they can easily move around in it. Place some artificial plants and branches to make the proper environment for them like they have in trees. They may like to climb up the branches or hang over them. If the iguana is small, make a proper cage without any holes in, so that they cannot escape out of it.
