You can work out its total food requirement for the day. Place the food in a shallow trough or bowl made of glass, ceramic or plastic. The food pot should be regularly cleaned. It should be heavy so that it does not topple by weight of iguana. To keep you iguanas healthy and fit, they should be fed with a variety of food. The Red iguanas belong to terrestrial category and spend time in search of food within a short distance from their domicile. They cannot travel long to find any other suitable dwelling place as they easily get disjointed. The female red iguanas lay eggs in burrows dug by them in hot sunny areas. They cover their eggs and leave them unguarded. It has a confined space and it is difficult to clean it. At the same time, you have to provide water in it and it may not be closer to a sink or bathroom. Making the closet a safe and clean shelter for you iguana is a real perplexing task. You should not provide a very big space also as iguana may hide somewhere away from heat. How to prepare an Iguana Nest: For carrying out the reproduction of iguana smoothly, both male and female iguanas are to be put together in their mating and breeding season. There should be proper size of the group and ratio of male and females. For one male, you can keep one or more females. It is better to maintain the number of male iguanas smaller than females; otherwise males may be killed fighting with each other during mating. If they are exposed to sunlight, they get Vitamin D3 calcium and phosphorous from ultraviolet UVA and UVB from sunrays. You can use different types of artificial lights, which produce the ultraviolet rays. However, the sunrays are the best. To make the iguana get sufficient quantity of the vitamins and mineral, they should be able to get exposure to sunlight to maximum possible extent. Some species are living in deserts while others live in rainforest. Even a few species have their dwelling in sea. These are referred as marine iguanas. The most common variety of them is giant green iguanas; this species is mostly found in Mexico and South America particularly in Brazil. The common verities of iguana are green iguana, blue iguana, marine iguana and lesser Antilillean iguana.
