The immediate drug treatment of risky spider bites usually includes the administration of an anti-venom based on corticosteroids. The administration of specific medication can only be done by authorized medical personal and when the circumstances indicate a toxic venom exposure. Contact a health care provider immediately if you've been bitten by a spider and you experience fever, nausea, swelling of the tissues and severe pain. The most common way to perform the identification at a very amateurish level is to actually compare a specimen with a picture or a drawing and see whether there is a match. The important thing about spider identification is to actually be able to tell the poisonous spiders from the non-poisonous ones. A special feature of the wolf spider is the position of the eyes on the body; the four pairs are arranged in very unique ways, with four small eyes in a bottom row, two large ones placed in the middle and two middle-sized ones on the top row. The specificity of their vision organs is the one that ensures the survival of the species since the wolf spider depends on the eyesight to hunt. Despite their incredible diversity, all spiders create silk and design complex webs in which they catch their prey, nevertheless, silk is also great for climbing and laying eggs. All spiders depend on their venom for survival: venom is the way to hunt and defend themselves, but from the many thousands species only about two hundred actually represent a threat for human health. The bite of the brown recluse spiders is likely to cause a whole range of symptoms at the skin level known as loxocelism, and the greatest risk they involve is that of necrosis. Most bites are not only minor but also extremely rare; brown recluse spiders do not attack unless they feel threatened. As their very name suggests they enjoy very retreated corners where they are not bothered by light or intruders: cellars, garages, hallways or any other dark house area. The local symptoms associated with a spider bite include pain, itching, redness and even swelling of the area; their intensity can be reduced if a tight bandage is applied above the wound. This precaution measure is only valid in case the spider bite is located at the level of the arms or legs. One other thing you can do is to put some ice or cold water on the bite in order to reduce the discomfort and alleviate the pain.
