On a regular basis there should be no necrosis associated with a brown recluse spider bite, yet, some people are exposed to systemic reactions. The most risky of situtations have been registered in the case of children under seven, who have been bitten by this insect; an equally high risk is present with people that have a very fragile immune system. Last but not least, certain spider species are a real threat to humans by the damage their venom can do to us. Scientists are the one directly interested in the correct identification of certain spider species, nevertheless, for the average man, knowledge in the field can save one a lot of trouble. When you are able to identify spider species correctly, the risk of getting bitten out of personal negligence is a lot lower; moreover, in case you do get bitten, you can provide valuable information about the species, thus making treatment a lot easier. Most bites are not only minor but also extremely rare; brown recluse spiders do not attack unless they feel threatened. As their very name suggests they enjoy very retreated corners where they are not bothered by light or intruders: cellars, garages, hallways or any other dark house area. Moreover, brown recluse spiders are very likely to be found behind paintings or under desks and tables. The hunting habits are the same regardless of whether we are talking about the hobo spiders that live indoors or out in the fields, gardens and hedges. The worst consequence of a hobo spider bite is the death of the tissue or necrosis; it is due to such a risk that the general opinion considers the hobo spider highly dangerous. All spiders need to inject venom in order to survive, it is in the nature of their species and one of the life mechanisms they have been endowed with; what really differs from one species to another and gives rise to the classification into poisonous and non-poisonous is the amount of venom and its toxicity. When a spider bites you, the first thing to do is trying to identify the species, if it be possible; knowing what type of spider bit you may be crucial in case an anti-venom has to be used. Superficial spider bites can only cause a skin rash and some itching: nothing more. The remedy for such cases is pretty much at hand: cold water and aloe ointments could alleviate the irritating sensation.
