Though apparently harmless, the brown recluse spider bite is more serious than that of other more venomous and threatening species. The immediate drug treatment of risky spider bites usually includes the administration of an anti-venom based on corticosteroids. The administration of specific medication can only be done by authorized medical personal and when the circumstances indicate a toxic venom exposure. The local symptoms associated with a spider bite include pain, itching, redness and even swelling of the area; their intensity can be reduced if a tight bandage is applied above the wound. This precaution measure is only valid in case the spider bite is located at the level of the arms or legs. One other thing you can do is to put some ice or cold water on the bite in order to reduce the discomfort and alleviate the pain. The favorite habitat of the funnel web spider consists of the moist area under rocks, crevices, rotten trees, holes and tree bark. There is plenty of room to make the silk lines for their burrow: these threads help the spiders catch their prey, but they also make a great warning means that signal danger or the presence of mates. In terms of gender relationships, male spiders are famous for being killed right after intercourse, or at least this is the general myth people know. In its natural habitat the species prefers rotten tree bark as the favorite place to make the nest, but it is also found in alls sorts of house corners. The only habitat specificities that matter are retreat and low moisture levels. Brown recluse spiders are not dangerous or aggressive; the only cases of bites occur when these creatures somehow get tangled in clothes, towels or even bed sheets.
