Mick Jenkins - "Truffles" (Official Music Video)

They usually sell oaks and hazelnut trees which are inoculated with Black Perigord or Black Burgundy truffle, or whatever variety will be grown. How are the trees inoculated? The tree seedlings are dipped in mycorrhizal fungi slurry. Given the right conditions and care, the truffles could be harvested in about six to ten years. There are just few trees which are not associated to truffle growth, like maple and cedar trees. If they are underground, how would you find these treasures? Truffles, when they mature, would develop a strong scent which can be detected by animals. When looking for truffles, small animal diggings around the tree roots would be a good indication that truffles are probably nearby. Truffles belong to wild mushrooms that are hard to find and makes it one of the most expensive fungi in the world. Experts say that truffles are actually very sensitive types of mushroom because a slight change in weather or climate can affect its growth. In fact, there are a very limited number of areas where truffles grow and are being cultivated. Winter truffles during November to February, White truffles during October to December Oregon truffles from mid-December until the middle of March. Perigord truffles from December until February Burgundy Truffles from October until January. The truffles should not reach beyond this point. They would develop a disagreeable odour and they become spongy and dry. Its price could go double at 3,490 per kilo when bought from a retailer. Then there s the Chinese Truffles. This type is considered as winter black truffle which is usually cultivated and harvested in China. This can be considered as the most widely-distributed truffle type because it grows bountifully in most areas in China. You can barely tell them apart from genuine or edible truffles, as they strongly resemble each other, not to mention that false truffles outnumber the real ones. That being said, you must be extra careful when locating and collecting edible truffles. What makes truffle hunting all the more difficult is the fact that this mushroom variety grows underground.
