Green iguana is the favorite of hunters, but it is not yet considered as imperiled breed of animals anywhere as is sometimes misunderstood like that. Hunters prefer to catch the large female iguanas. Green iguana is recognized as "Bamboo Chicken" and is a favorite delicacy for many people. Appearance of the Green Iguana: The green iguana normally grows between 4' to 6'. Many people get attracted by these cute creatures and get involved with them to keep them as pets. It is a fact that these tiny animals can turn very large very soon and may also become aggressive. However, they are generally good pets and you have to take their proper care for food and living. If you want to keep them as pets, it is better you acquire some basic knowledge about the nature of iguanas, the way they live, their habits, food, behavior and what are the necessities for their existence. As the iguana grows, you should be able to make changes in the size of its cage rather than shifting it from one cage to another. It is advisable to go for a bigger cage from the beginning. Thermal injuries: Burns and thermal injuries can come, if iguana comes in direct contact of heat sources in their enclosure. The main cause can be exposed hot rocks or light bulbs and heaters. It is necessary to look for the safety of pet and keep all these things out of their reach. The bacterial infection: The iguana can be infected by many kinds of bacteria. The laying of eggs starts in early in August. The eggs will hatch after six months. The hatching is without the parent iguanas. The Rhinoceros Iguana becomes grown up adults in 3 years and they have life span of around 30 years. Rhinoceros Iguanas also get the heat from sun to keep their bodies warm. Exclusive Features of Different Types of Iguana Iguanas belong to iguanidae lizard family. They have most common features like tails, eyelids and long legs. These cold blooded creatures and can live for about 20 years. Most of the breeds of iguanas are found in Central and Sothern America, Mexico, Lesser Antilles Islands, Florida, Hawaii and California.
