Physical characteristics of Rhinoceros Iguana: This is a very strong type of lizard. It has a firm body, which has a strong crest of its spine and is completely sturdy. It possesses long legs and walks tall on the ground. The Rhinoceros Iguanas have mostly grayish brown color. The male in this species grows up to 56 cms in length and weighs about 10 Kg. When these reptile perceive any danger, they use their defense tools comprising their strong tail, claws, jaws and nails to protect themselves. When they are in their natural dwelling, the iguana cantinas will be careful and shield themselves from the marauders. They are very active and possess a keen sense of hearing, sight and smell. They will need a shelter where they can move around freely and at the same time it is warm and comfortable for them. It is advisable to go for a bigger cage from the beginning. That will provide more freedom to iguana for moving around. Iguana as pets: Many people in America are keeping iguanas as their pets. They think that they can save them from being extinct this way. You may be aware that iguanas are herbivores and they mostly eat flowers, buds, tender leaves and fruits. In addition, they also feed on some worms like: rare juicy mealworm, cricket, and wax worm. They make their dwelling on rock plain in open forests of Eastern and Southerne Africa. The red iguanas are becoming very popular as pet like green iguanas and you can often find them in the back garden or inside the homes.
